In response to recent publications in the international media, including the Financial Times, referring to the activities of the Institute of War Losses, we strongly emphasise that the work carried out by the Institute is exclusively scientific and research-based.

The Institute for War Losses does not conduct any formal legal or procedural activities, including preparing a lawsuit against the Russian Federation or any other legal proceedings. Any suggestions that the Institute's activities are aimed at initiating legal proceedings are unfounded and do not reflect the actual scope of our competences.

The content of the aforementioned publication may give the impression that the Institute of War Losses is preparing legal action. Such an interpretation is inconsistent with our mandate and all previous, unambiguous communications. The role of the Institute is to conduct analyses, research and expert studies on war losses, without undertaking any legal or procedural activities.

The J. Karski Institute of War Losses remains an expert and scientific institution, operating on the basis of applicable law and within the scope of its statutory competences.
